Barbara Bartos is an interdisciplinary artist whose work is based on the synchronic quality of perception, transformation, process, and experimentation. In her practice she moves seamlessly through a variety of media, from musical-paintings to experimental installation involving live bees, to site-specific interventions, drawings, and prints.

Romanian-born, she is currently based in Rome, Italy. She holds an MFA degree from San Francisco Art Institute, USA, and a BA in Graphic Arts from the Visual Arts Academy in Cluj, Romania. She is the recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship for study in the US.

For her work, Barbara Bartos has been awarded a number of international grants and prizes, has had solo shows in Italy, Romania, and Australia and taken part in group exhibitions internationally, most recently at Morely Gallery, London; Autocenter, Berlin; Southern Exposure, San Francisco, USA; GenArt, San Francisco, USA; National Art Museum, Cluj, Romania.

Her work and interviews have appeared on Romania International TV and in LandEscape Artreview, ARTnews Extra, Romanian Cultural Institute Annual, Venice, Italy, and the San Francisco Weekly.
